You have to get fancy and route the wires underneath trim.

This is exactly right. Or if your good enough at it, u can fab up a cover weld in through middle is side and run wire through. Whih is what I'm thinking of doing since ill be running amp and sub back and need someowjere with little more room for amp wore

Re: Why put carpet in a truck?
My truck already had a plastic floor which I was happy about. I hate carpet too. It's not durable enough for use in a truck.

Re: Why put carpet in a truck?
Just in case anyone was wondering about the wiring, here's whats under the carpet:
A large bundle runs alongside the driver side of the trans tunnel, then the rear speaker wires cross under the driver seat to the door frame and then back to the rear wall. Also notice there are sticky foam pads mounted around the floor that you'll probably have to peel up before belining. Carpet bottom has thick (1/2" or so) sound deadening material attached to it. On the plus side, removing the carpet reveals a bunch of drain plugs in the floor!

I ripped the carpet out of my truck two weeks after I bought it. Put Herculiner in it. Here is picture. I did a thread on it if you go and look at my profile.
I love it in my truck. I just pull the body plugs and hose it out.
Here is the link. http://www.fordrangerforum.com/inter...er-my-cab.html

Re: Why put carpet in a truck?
not everybody 4wd their truck.. I think if you offroad then I could see the benefit over carpet but for a nice sport street truck I think bedlined floors or rubber floor looks out of place....

It took a few weeks for mine to stop smelling. Maybe a month all and all. I got some air neutralizer air fresheners and that helped
