Cluster Experts Question??
First I always search before asking dumb questions.I read the install post several times, but my question is rather unusual but. Can the bezel be slightly loosened to wiggle out the plastic dash piece without sliding it out very far? The reason I am asking is a friend wired the special wiring for my fog light switch in my carbon fiber bezel and if a wire popped loose, I would be up a creek without a paddle. Thanks

Ok let me see if I got this. (looked at your albums btw).
So you want to remove the instrument cluster bezel (piece around IC with headlight switch) and you want to know if you can just loosen the radio bezel a little so you can do this, correct?
Yeah you don't have to remove the radio bezel to do this just pull it out maybe 1/2" or so.
What is so special about this wiring? It looks like a simple 3 or 2 pin switch (power, ground, and possible a pin for the indicator light). He should have put enough slack in it to pull it out.

I'm referring to the panel that encases the cluster, on the right side.It has a metal pin holding it in and if I'm correct, it needs to pop out about 3/4 inches to release it.

So you want to remove the bezel with the headlight and dimmer switch so you can get to the cluster?
There is no easy way to get it out... And there are 5 7mm screws holding it in, 3 on top, 2 underneeth the plate above your knee (which has 5 8mm bolts in it)

Re: Cluster Experts Question??
To remove that part, the radio bezel does not have to come out far as there is nothing holding the IC bezel in there except for maybe a snap... But I remove it anyways so I don't accidentally smack my radio and break it

Re: Cluster Experts Question??
What a pain in the a$$ to do,getting those screws started on the hood release was a nightmare, and the plastic surround sucked. I think if I need a bulb I'll hire it done next time.LOL!

Re: Cluster Experts Question??
Haha I swapped my whole cluster out in 10 minutes today... I might be a little better at it as I have done it over 25 times (yes, I started to count but lost track) last year!

The skill comes at a cost, because remember, every time I took it apart, there was a reason... And today sucked... I am sore from skiing yesterday and my right hand acted up when unscrewing all the screws. It's worth it to me tho, as I love working on that truck!

Yeah, that pain is never fun... I would love to have magnetic tools!
What kind of cover did you get? I'm wanting something for the future as mine is ugly rusty
