Default Yet another power window thread

North44 answered part of my question here: Power Window I want to keep the problem from getting worse and to seal it temporarily to keep rain out and stop noise.

My passenger side window drops to leaving almost 1/2" gap mostly at the front to no gap at the back. It vibrates down or drops when one closes the door.

It also does the shudder once it reaches the resistance at the slot and the motor won't push it all the way up to seal so I have to help it by hand. Eventually works its way back down though.

I am in a crisis state until I find a job and cannot spend a nickel on it but would like to temporarily close it well and keep it closed at the cost of not being able to open it until I can buy parts.

With it dropping I think something is broken, teeth or something so I expect to have to buy a regulator and maybe a motor. Is there an easy way to fix t closed solid for now?

Any other comments on my uneducated model of how it works?

How about removing the door panel and using a block of wood to hold the window up until you can get to it properly?

Ha, ghetto... don't embarrass me but others drive the truck, daughter and wife.

Guess I'll go for the wood. My guess so far is the regulator is a sort of lever action that tends to drop in front first. Anyhow, and once get in there, per Mike in Bama, I'll put a custom piece of wood n there, maybe some firm rubber to absorb some shock and keep her a bit quieter. I'll try to look at it sometime Monday evening. I'll post a pic or two if I find a nifty way to do it. I think I'll pull a wire for the switch to be sure it isn't messed with.

Thanks!
