Default Replaced Steering Wheel in 1987 Ranger

Changed out my stock steering wheel last night with a Grant GT wheel. It was pretty straight forward to replace. The only hard part was finding the proper steering wheel remover tool. I first tried the 2-jaw tool and that did not work so I took it back to Advanced Auto and borrowed the tool that looks like a tiger paw (see pics below).

The steering wheel looks off center, but it's fixed now that I got the wheel alignment done on the truck.

Looks a little of center but good install. In picture six it seems like you have a medical chest plate! lol

Hi, first post here and sorry to revive this thread, but any reason you changed your tiller? I have a 1987 Ranger XLT and my steering wheel has a lot of play in it. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If your wheel has that much play in it you need to check the joints and you prob have a bad box that needs to be replaced.

Yes, the Grant steering wheel is smaller than the original. The only problem that I noticed is that the Grant wheel completely blocked the view of the turn signal indicators. So I was constantly having to duck or raise my head to view the signals.
Another problem with the grant steering wheel is that the aesthetic bolts on the front of the steering wheel started to rust only a month after installing the wheel. Which I thought was odd since I keep my truck in the garage at home and work.
If I had to do it again, I would not buy a grant steering wheel. That's just my opinion.

Autozone has the adapters right next to the steering wheels.
