Exclamation Spare Key/Bypass Module/Viper Alarm Remote Starter

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! I hope somebody is on I really need some help right now. I have a Viper alarm/remote starter system just got today. Bought a bypass module and realized it needs a spare key. I only have one key. What my question is: could I get a regular spare key, program it and use that to start the truck up "WHILE" my original transponder key is inside the bypass module? Hope someone can answer because I really want to setup my alarm/remote starter system that and I don't want to spend a wad of money by going to the dealership. Hate going there. So if anyone can help me on this I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Nope, you need to have a key programed to your PATS module. I had the same issue when I had my system put in a few years back. But it then quit working. The box has a wire that you wrap around the igntion switch that then relays the info back to the module then the brain, telling it there's a key that's programed and in the slot, so therefore it lets the truck start. My module stopped reading the key. So I upgraded to the module that's programed with the PATS and doesn't require a key. I think the box ran me $60 installed and programed, but that's because I know someone.

You could have a blank key programed, but might as well have it cut as well in case you ever take it out and you don't have a useless key programed to a truck you can't do anything with.
