Talking OHC install today. PITA!

I have to say, yall made it sound and look so easy. I either had a bad day or that was a pain in the ass. I didn't follow the instructions where it said "don't cut this until you mount the bracket." That messed me up because I had to put it up a little farther back than normal. I struggled for a few hours trying to get the clips to pop in place. Finally I realized I needed to bend the piece of metal in between where the clips go out a little. Anyway, I know this doesn't make much sense to many people. I finally got it all done but the wiring. I will do that tomorrow. [rant over]

When I completely finish I will upload some more pics with better light. It was dark outside. I think this will be my new favorite mod so far.

What do yall think about the position of it?

aww it's easy. Hole in the roof then installed. See how easy the pics make it look.

It is hard to tell from the pic but is the front of it flush with the top of the headliner where it meets the windshield

Yes it is flush but it isn't as close to the windshield as the others I have seen on here. I am satisfied, and it looks like it is supposed to be there. I think that is all I was missing. I am a lot better at wiring than installing shit. lol!

yeah as long as there are no gaps between the headliner and OHC it is close enough. That pic just looks like it is way back.

I wanted to move it forward, but I had already cut the headliner. If I would have moved it forward there would have been a gap in the headliner. So.....that is what I got. It doesn't look bad though.

Thanks a lot! I needed that. LOL! Here is a pic with the power on. The damn people I ordered it from didn't include the temp sensor, but they sent it out today. I already ran the wires for it though, so all I have to do is mount it and hook it up and I am all done.

Looks good... Will be doing ours soon enough.

Any other lessons learned you wish to share?

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

I won't lie to you, it is WAY too far back from the window and probably doesn't look right from the side. I would imagine that there is a huge gap in between the curved front portion of the OHC and the headliner.

I am curious to see if there is a gap. Looks good in the pic. The wiring was sooo much easier than the mounting. But that is probably due to the wiring is reversible whereas a giant cutout in the liner is not so reversible, without throwing out some $ on a new headliner at least.
