Default OHC Installed

I told Bryan(Bryfin83) that I would post pics of my OHC since I'm going to help him install his. The OHC is installed and working and looks good and I love it. Also installed a keyless entry today! That was the one thing that I felt it was lacking.

Very nice job. Anything you 'd do different next time? Any challanges?

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

Mine is coming from Fedex tomorrow!!!! I can't wait. How long did it take you? How about that keyless entry??? Did you already have power locks?

Still debating as to painting the center section white. Other than that I don't think so. I took my time installing it and it came out really nice.

It took me about 6 hours to install it but I did a lot of prep work first. Like adding wire to the harness and figuring out where to cut. You know like they say, measure twice and cut once.

The truck never had power locks and I really wanted them. So I did some research and found a kit for $67. The parts are really good but the instructions are very poor. But wiring it up was no biggie for me.

So, 6 hours for the OHC or the OHC and locks? I have been looking at those kits for a while now. Was that very difficult or equally difficult as the OHC?

Nice! If I get one, do you think you could help me out too?

I'm in Shelton 1 or 2 times a week.

I could do it a lot quicker than the 6 hours but took my time, lots of breaks, enjoying the day and working on my truck. I told Bryfin83 that we would do it in 2 hours at the Washington meet next month. We should photo document it.

The hardest part about the locks was finding a place to mount the control box and running the wires through the driver door. The instructions are really poor but it is just basic wiring.

Did you get any pics of doing the locks? I plan on enjoying my day tomorrow and doing the same thing you did today.

No pics of the locks. Really just running wires and mounting the lock motors. Now I did do something different from the lame instructions. There is a rod that goes from the motor to the rod from the handle. They say to use this clamp to clamp them together. The lock opener has a extra hole for power locks I would think. I just made a S-bend in the rod and put it in that hole. Worked great and it's a straight shot from the motor.
