Default speedo wippers and door ajar problems

Alright guys i am in need of some assistance. I have a 1998 ford ranger 2.5L inline 4, 2wd, 5sp manual, no AC no cruise, no tilt wheel, 6 foot bed.

I recently purchased the truck and now it is exhibiting some electrical issues i would much like to solve. Alright the problem i am having is when i first start the truck(keep in mind i live in MN so the cold maybe affecting it) I let it warm up for about 15 minutes. then when i start to go my speedo doesn't work. But at the same time i have noticed the wipers don't work either. The door ajar light is on all the time and the previous owners removed the fuse for the dome light so it doesn't work.

So while im driving down the road i have no speedo no wipers and the door ajar light is NOT on. then a mile or sometimes 10. the dash will chime, my speedo will go to the correct speed, my door ajar light will come on and stay on (like normal) and my wipers will work again. Its got me puzzled with what connection all 3 of these things have in common that could be loose or corroded.

If anyones knows or has similar problems it sure would be nice to know.
Thanks

kinda. the fuse for my dome is completely removed. ill put one in but i got a hunch that because its so intermittent and it only happens when i start the truck not while driving it im thinking possible loose connection?

i bet they pulled the fuse because when the door ajar light comes on, the dome light comes on. my truck did that often in certain weather haha. i never had your speedo issue though.

actually i had am 'intermittent' speedo issue which acted similar, but that was the sensor on the rear differential. it also caused the 'ABS' warning light to come on (since it's a two in one sensor).

i've had that problem too hahaha! it's definitely the 'multifunction' switch on the left side of the steering column (for me anyway). i took it apart and cleaned it. that made a big difference, but it's still there only much much less often do the wipers come on unexpectedly lol

wanna see pics?

I had an issue with my wipers, if I turned them off too quickly, they would still keep wiping. I fixed this by getting a new multifunction switch but since the salvaged one was more discolored than mine, I just swapped the end switch that rotates for the wipers. I know those multifunction switches can cause issues. Personally I wish Ford would make the headlight, wiper, and turn signal controls more like the ones on my dad's Tacoma.

Have you solved any of the problems yet?

yea post some pictures for me gander at. that would be great.

So the conclusion is the multifuction switch is bad or loose or dirty. But would that really cause the speedo to not work?

I think i would just remove the whole switch and replace it as a unit. If it is affecting the speedo i would think that it would be in the main bulk inside the steering column cover
