Default Where to mount auxillary input...

Hey,

So I today stumbled upon a how-to guide for installing a auxillary input on a standard head unit (which works really well). I am now looking for a good location to install the connector. My original idea was to run it down under the gear stick, under the carpet and then up into the center arm rest however I can find a way to take apart the arm rest so that I can drill the connector hole in the arm rest liner.

Where did/would you put it?

Thanks,

Ollie.

Add AUX input for mp3 player or similar to: 2005 stock xlt am/fm/cd player

You DO NOT need to cut a hole in the bottom if you are comfortable taking the unit complete apart...

Hmm interesting I might have to do that on our F250 and I'm sure some friends would give me a couple bucks to have this done for them, thanks! And as for you question have you thought about one if these? Maybe you could mount it down by the ash tray unless yours has the switch for the passenger airbag, this was one if the first ones I found I would Tr y and find one with a smaller plate this was just for reference

my 2011 has it stock. right at the bottom of the center stack on the dash there are two button like areas on either side of a little cubby, one is the traction control off button the other is the aux jack right above the gear lever. maybe you can find that part at a junkyard and swap it in? sorry i dont have more info handy for you.

----------

quick google search gave me that^ you can see under the HVAC controls the panel that houses the aux input and the traction control button

With all due respect...why the hell would you go through all that?

Why not just use a PAC module?

As for location...running it to the armrest is best. Keeps everything out of the way. You want to keep all the pressure off the phone/MP3 port, and the cable.

Get a quality cable too
