Heres a noob question... What do you use your CB's for ?

Not trying to troll or anything, I'm genuinely curious as to what they're used for.

Who knows, I might even be conviced I need one for my Ranger !

I've been looking at the Cobra 18WXSTII, seems like a decent radio and it'll fit in the spot under my pioneer headunit. I'd like one to listen to truckers on the interstate(great for traffic updates), got a few friends with one around town, and this one has a weather radio!

Before there was affordable cellular service,
Citizen Band radio was about the only way to
communicate with other people.
I still have mine in case I'm too far out for cell service

Ham Radio FTW. Saved me when I wrecked my car out in the sticks. CB wouldn't have done squat.

Agreed, granted I only have my tech license and will be getting my dual band rig mounted in my truck here in a couple weeks. The only problem is most people on the road don't have them.

Thinking of getting a CB too just cause when I travel it is nice to talk to truckers for updates up ahead.

Thanks Trevor for installing this while I was doing the bodylift!!

Great Pics!

The only thing I am wondering if how to get the cord from the antenna to the back of your cb, how do you get it through the panels and headliner, ive done absolutely no wiring so im a noob when it comes to hiding wires...

How long is the cable you need for it to reach properly, I have the antenna mounted and the cable through my firewall and my cobra 29ltd US Army cb is on its way and this is where i wanna put it, thasnks for any info.

I've seen Shane's set up in person. As I remember he took off the A pillar trim and ran it down that way and out through the bottom of the truck through the drain. I haven't seen him in awhile, I'll call him later and ask.

I just put a thin piece of wood above the headliner and screwed the mount to it through the headliner and there should be a grommet on the floor behind your seat to run the wires in, you can find it underneath the truck

i have a cheap realistic id like to put in but i need to find a decent antenna that is going to have a nice swr ratio ... witch im still looking for ( the antenna seam to be too short as per meter)

i probably gona place it on a mount around the midle of the truck right behind the cab .
i have no pics

i will try to see how the heck im gona run the wires its a auto transmision so i have the midle console ( probably just hook the CB to it)

I have mine in case of SHTF day. No phone service then. Zombies can't run the phone company! Oh and its good to have if you do any offroading with groups.

a CB is a Citizen Band radio communication device
its basically either a base(home) , mobile (car/bike) or hand-held (Rollerblades :P ) device used to communicate in the CB band ( roughly 27Mhz) its a bit like the FRS/GMRS radio bands but its a lower band .
its open to all communications as long as its within said FCC ( or in Canada CRTC) parameters

its less used now because of FRS radios witch are cheaper(yeah right) and less prone to EM interferences from the sun ( less background noise thats all)

every 4x4 should have at least one radio comm device its the rule
(with a big whip antenna if possible)
