Take my tools, please!!!!
As some of you all know, we purchased and drove home a used truck just over a week ago.
Then one day, I wanted to install a stereo cause the old one did not work. The next thing I knew, this is what i was up against.
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Yea.. they used a lot of 10 gauge stranded red & black electrical wire and butt splices.
After I find the shorts and replacing this mess with some more reasonable 16 gauge, my major challange will be figuring out what color wires they should be and then coming up with a way to label them. Maybe a P-touch, not sure.
If anyone wants to help, the beer frig is full!

Had a buddy with a 64 Impala like that, the fire marshall finally condemned the the car as a rolling fire hazard. GOOD LUCK!

JohnBaum13 lives in the Garland Texas contact him he may help
Hell he drove all the way to Springfield Mo to help install my body lift
Im not really surprised the mess you have. I see this a lot. People just have one color wire laying around and go to town using it. Makes for the next person to work on it harder.

I'd be glad to help if I was a little closer, but I just can't afford the extra gas for a 6 hour drive right now. Good luck with it all. I'm sure it's more time consuming than difficult.

Lucky you - hope you got a great deal on the ride along with the hint about why the radio didn't work.

I might be heading that way in May if you haven't figured it out by then lol. Do you have a way of getting a factory wiring diagram. They make a world of difference. I put a new head unit in my ranger and I didn't have to splice anything in the ranger harness. Cut the previous owners nuts. Stupid people shouldn't breed!

Nope, worst purchase I ever made. Did everything wrong. Bottom line, it was the one my son wanted. Logic and reason where traded for what I hoped would be time, effort and learning by his side bringing her back to life. (I am no mechanic)
This truck may not see the open road for months to come, but I am already reaping the rewards of this purchase. He and I have been in the garage almost every night for two weeks taking things apart OR reading what they are and how they work.
Maybe one day we will meet someone close who can show us how to do the things that we have no idea about. If not, we will save our pennies and pay someone to do them. Either way, this truck will be his, the memories will be ours and the time spent together will be worth more to me than whatever monies we have to spend
in the process.
