Default Bench seats in ext cab

Has anyone tried making a back bench seat instead of the jump seats? I've read a few threads of people asking this same question. I recently found however that the old Mazda b series sold cabs with bench seats. Can this be modded to fit? http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...=78798006768gg

that seat is going to be way too big to fit in the rear. another member came to me asking about this same thing. we are looking into a 98-02ish dodge dakota rear seat.

Ah I see. That's a shame, I had high hopes because it was the Mazda. The dodge Dakota has the appropriate size parameters though to meet the requirements of the ranger?

Well they would be a little squished. Have you been in the back of an older extended cab Tacoma? They have it going on. Really you sacrifice leg for more shoulder room.

yeah i've been in a tacoma, it has a bigger cab than a ranger. unless you plan on only putting a double leg amputee in the back, keep the jump seats IMO

I haven't actually looked at the dimensions but that doesn't surprise me that the Tacoma has more space. I'll look the dimensions up

My truck didn't come with back seats. I'd like to be able to carry my kids around so I looked into a bench seat but most say there's no room. If you find one that works let everyone know.

I was wondering if a mustang or other two door car back seat might work since there's no room in the back of those either. Yet they have bench seats. I remember riding in the back of a civic with my legs stuck between the front seats in high-school. Oh the good times.

a full size bench is not going to fit in there. i'm not sure of the measurements of the dakota seat yet. haven't had a chance to measure one.

Just being realistic, you could always take the back panel off on the extended cab and have it covered to look like a seat then have something similar to a shower bench seat which folds up to look like a seat as well recovered to look like a seat and when it folds out youll have the seat you want. not my cup of tea but it something that would work.

we were looking at a dakota rear seat. i think it would have fit, but would need custom mounts made. the bottoms of the dakota do fold up against the back wall.

Like it's been said before, it can't be done. If it was possible, it'd be one of the top 10 Ranger mods of all time! Trust me and all the other old-timers on this board: the Ranger is just too small to contain a usable, real-world back seat!
