Question gear shift knob?

i was wondering how do you get the stock shifter knob off a 97 ford ranger5 speed :confused? Ive pulled and tried twisting and nothing works is there a trick to it or something?

The stock shifter is machine pressed on and sealed with A-Bomb proof glue. On my last truck I ended up having to crack the little SOB in half and chisel the pieces off. Goodluck and keep plenty of stress relievers on hand.

I have heard you have to crack them, but others have had help with a heat gun, or just waiting till summer when it gets hotter.

Yeah I had to get a strong guy to get mine off He just kept pulling and it finally came off.

hey thanks for all the tips i finally got it off it had been took off before and they had put tape and glue and everything in it to keep it on lol.
