How to change out the shift stick?
I wasn't actually planning on doing it, but I was wondering how many of you have changed out the entire shift stick (not just the knob) in your Rangers, and what work would go along with it. Just curious to know how it's done.

Re: How to change out the shift stick?
pull off your shift knob, undo 4 screws around the base of the shift boot, pull shift boot assembly off of shaft, undo bolt that holds shift shaft to transmission linkage

It's a press fit. Very tight.
Try searching. Lots of guys have various methods to remove them. Saw it off is one method. One of my Rangers, it came off as I was shifting into 3rd gear.
I started at the transmission and removed it all. Replaced with a Hurst and never regretted it.
BTW..Some years F150 shifters are a bolt on for Rangers. They are just taller.
