Cab extention
My 99 Ranger xlt 4.0L recently got into an accident. I have now decided that it is going to be my new project. It was hit just in front of the passenger door so not too much damage but enough to drop resale. A couple things i want to know is would it be possible to chop and extend the cab to fit a bench seat in the back. I think that would be the first thing that i would want to do because i love a ranger it just doesn't have as much room as i would like. i know the bed length would probably suffer because of this but i think i can live with that. let me know your thoughts thanks i appreciate it.

Dude...That would be an awesome project. If you pull that one off, you would be the king of ranger modding in my book.
I found this pic, not sure of its origin, but are you talking about doing something like this?

Re: Cab extention
It's been done but it will be a lot of fab work and you will need to shorten the bed to accommodate the larger cab.
There was a thread about a guy who did a cab extension for his Ranger to make it into a trail vehicle. I don't remember the name of the thread though. Do you have four doors now or just a two door extended cab? The thread I'm talking about was on a two door.
Going to a full Crew Cab would be great, assuming you can get the parts and all. The down side is that the bed will be something like 4-5 feet instead of 6.

Re: Cab extention
Yea could be done. I think the time, money and effort might be better put towards a Mexico quad cab.

That's the guy I'm thinking of. He did some great work but made a poor choice in which Ranger he picked. The front suspension wasn't up to the task he wanted it to do. He should have either gone with a truck with torsion bars or did an SAS. The thread died after his initial fail. I don't know if he lost sponsorship or just threw in the towel.

Re: Cab extention
Thanks for assuring that it is possible now onto other matters at hand. Suspension wise I was thinking a full Dixon Brothers racing long travel suspension with four wheel drive with all the works 2.5 x*8 c/o shocks + coils, 2.0 x 3 Hydraulic Bumpstops with Frame Mounts, Cantilever Rear Suspension Kit, a bed cage with 14" fox shocks.
As for the power house I am thinking a Boss 302 crate Hooked up to a c6 4wd tranny.
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks
