I sorta have the same problem , i got a 94 ranger and was replacing my guages and forgot to mark were the needle goes , and now im not sure if its on correctly or not , i dont even know because the spring in the back once it releases after i tighten it by spinning the needle around it stops at 0 but then other times it stops at other numbers , i havent put in in my vehicle yet , i just want to make sure

Best way now since no research was done in the first place when you pulled the needle for the tacky overlay, is to pull that clear cover off and plug the cluster back in. Drive about 60mph via pacing a friend or using GPS(i suggest GPS), then set the needle to the speed you're shooting for.

Here's the how-to: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/how-t...03-trucks.html
