Default Finished installing Explorer Buckets/Cemter Console --

Hey guys I just finished the change over from the 60/40 split bench to power Explorer buckets and a center console. It wasn't as easy as some here have said, but it was worth the effort. The interior looks great and I love the power seats. I will post some pics as soon as I get a chance.

I do have one question though: The seat belt bar on the new seats obviously doesn't belong on the Ranger. I thought about turning the mount on the end and bolting it to the existing holes where the center seat belts used to attach, but the bar wont reach the hole. If I cut off the bar, I won't have a place to mount the belts. Has anyone added some kind of extension to the bar so that it can be secured to the existing floor pan holes that were for the center seat seatbelt? Any advice is appreciated.

Just remove the bar and mount your seat belts to one of the holes in the side of the seat. That's what everyone else does

OK, thanks. I'll just remove it. BTW, posted an album of pics of the conversion here:

Thanks. Yeah, I was lucky in that. First junkyard I went to, and the first explorer I looked at! $150 for both seats and the console, and THEY pulled everything for me. If any of you live in San Antonio, go to Lalo's. Great help.

I've seen lots of websites that sell customized seat covers for the 60/40 split bench -- they even include a cover for the fold down armrest. I just don't like seat covers so I went with the explorer bucket seats/center console option.

Now it's REALLY finished. Forgot to cut off the seat belt rails, remove the pretensioners and belts from the factory ranger seats, and install them on the explorer seats. Now my seat belts actually work, my airbag system works, and my seat belt warning lights work. Duh!
