Sound Proofiing??
I don't know how much it will cost, or if it is in deed possible with a 92 Ford Ranger, but My friend has a truck and its fully sound proofed. I was wondering how much it would roughly cost, or how I can go about sound proofing the inside of the truck on my own.
If any one on here can help me with this thank you!

Check out "dynomat" its suppose to be really good stuff but it is expensive. There may be some cheaper brands out there im just not sure of the names.

Re: Sound Proofiing??
There are also aerosol versions, they don't do quite as good as the expensive stuff, but it's a cheaper option. I used one years ago, don't remember the name of the stuff. But once it was sprayed on & dry, it was similar to Rustoleum's undercoating spray. Kind of a rubbery version of aerosol bedliner. Super easy to do the doors - easier than Dynomat. Harder to do the rest of the cab though, since it's a spray, you not only have to gut the cab, but you have to mask off stuff.

Carpet padding. Sounds stupid but it works. Put it behind all the rear interior panels and door panels. Now my subs sound clear from the outside and inside with the windows down and windows up they're not as loud (with 2 1900w 12's you can never really silence them. As far as spas noise though, couldn't say cause entire cab isn't done but I'd imagine it wouldn't quiet that too.
Bring a tow strap and a 24pk, I did it again!

Lol all for trying to sound proof something that can't be sound proofed.......
You can't cut off all sound when you're in a cab, every vehicle has air circulation and vents so you don't suffocate while you're driving, sound proofing your vehicle would mean sealing up all openings to the cab I think, which in turn would defeat the purpose of said vents...

Ok, fair point. The OP used sound proofing as a general term to describe what he was tryin to accomplish. Its more like sound deadening. Trying to minimize sound transition between outside and inside and vice versa.

Ya' Think?!
Most logical people knew what he is talking about.....and it's not making his enclosed cab a complete vacuum.

Re: Sound Proofiing??
I used about 130 sq. ft of Ultimate B-Quiet in my truck to do two layers of dampening.
One layer seems to do 80% of the work of Dynamat at about 1/3 the cost.
Did it all my self and it cost me under $500.
A 50 sq. ft roll would cover about 70-80% of an extended cab.

Re: Sound Proofiing??
Ok first after hearing all you discuss what I meant to say..and getting a decent laugh. I want to thank you all for the humor. Secondly The last dude that posted, thank you for telling me about the 80%, and the savings, but in all actuality I am going to go for the extreme, and most pricey method. Mostly due to curiosity.
My friend went the cheaper route, and I want to see the difference between the pricey route, and the cheaper.
Sound dampening might not be the most important mod that I am going to do to this truck, but I have to say it is just something I enjoy. It makes me feel like the opposite of the idiots that drive down my street blaring there shit as loud as they can... Destroying my ear drums with there crappy base. To be able to blare my music, and not effect people..That is me just being nice, and I may get some Karma Points
