Default Replace Dash Lights

I want to start of by saying THANK YOU for all of the information on this forum. My daughter has an 02 Ranger Edge and the airbag light was constantly lit. Since I don't know much about cars I strongly suggested that she take it to the dealer for service (the manual stated that the airbag needed to be serviced and I was a worried mom.)

I'm really glad she ignored me..eventually the light went out, but then about every 30 minutes she would get these warning chimes. This forum helped me to figure out that the airbag light was on because the seatbelt wire under the passenger seat just needed a little fiddling. And when the bulb burned out, the backup alert was a pattern of chimes. Thanks guys!

Her dash lights are fading and some are out. I found the How To instructions on the forum and feel somewhat confident that I can replace her cluster bulbs. Am I correct that I need 194 bulbs? And if I would like LED, do they have the same number 194? The manual doesn't give any specs for these bulbs. "To replace instrument panel lamps, see your dealer." Um, no thank you.

I figured while I have it ripped apart I should replace the other warning bulbs...since I know for sure the airbag light is burned out. What number bulb for things like that?

Thanks in advance,
Sheri

Hi Sheri

I found this site useful for figuring out bulb sizes
http://www.modifiedlife.com/2002-for...lb-size-chart/

and as for leds i would go with a site like superbrightleds.com they have their own part numbers but will have the ford part numbers in the description as well.

You can actually just go to the second site and just put in your vehicle and it will show you the leds available for your car and where they go.

Welcome to FRF

Thanks Tom
Should I buy a directional bulb or one that is 360 degrees? If my daughter wants the blue color, should I buy all blue or use white for the "warning" type bulbs? I am determined to do this! I just don't want to realized I have screwed up after taking the dash apart.

from superbrightleds

What is the difference between Narrow and Wide viewing angle?
Some of our bulbs are available with Narrow or Wide viewing angle. The Wide angle (approx. 100 degree beam) will light up more area but dimmer than the Narrow angle. The Narrow angle (approx. 15 degree) will illuminate a smaller area but brighter than the Wide angle. We also offer bulbs with some LEDs aiming out the end of the bulb and some radially mounted LEDs aiming out the sides of the bulb. These will provide a more complete and even light pattern on the vehicle lens.

We cannot recommend which type would work best in your vehicle because it depends on the size, shape and depth of your bulb housings. The Wide angle bulbs usually work best for most vehicles.

I don't know personally but i know if i wanted to find out i would PM either member Pooleo or Buggman and they will know and may even know a better source for the leds.

I personally would do the cluster one color and do the warning lights another color(blue\white like you described).
