Default Why do my interior lights stay on in my 2001 ford ranger?

my dome lights stay on as if my doors are open. and the little light on my dash says a door is open. I have four doors so I shut every door over and over and they still stay on. This just started happening yesterday.

the ford dealership offered to put my truck on a scanner but I didn't have time to do it. then later I found out it would cost a lot of money to have it scanned. is this necessary?
I have tried the the dial on the dash board that dims the dash board lights. It doesn't seem to affect the interior lights though.

And it was dark out side, so I couldn't find the pins in the door. This truck is new to me so I don't know much about it yet..

I had someone else look at the book that was in the glove compartment, and he couldn't find anything about the interior lights.

spray w-2 on all the latches and do it well. then close the doors and reopen should fix the problem as the latches start to get tacky over time.

Along the same lines......my dome light is out and I cannot get the lens off to change it. Everytime I try it seems as if I am going to break the entire unit or rip it right off of the roof. Anyone help me with this? thanks.

I found out if you roll the dash brightness dial all the way up (or maybe down) until it clicks, none of the interior lights will go off. Had those suckers on for an hour until I thought to look in the book
