Default Driver Side Power Window Motor

The motor on my driver side window in my 04 Ranger has gone bad. Does anyone have experience replacing one of these? I have never been one to work on my own vehicle but I am thinking I should start. I did want to check on how hard this task is before trying.

Thanks,

Han****

I was waiting and hoping for a response to your question. I too have a window problem on the driver side, the switches have somehow got pushed down and out of their socket/holder and I was wondering how to get access to them.

it's not terrible to do. remove your door panel (there are many how to's on this), and there will be 4 or 5 large rivets that hold the regulator/motor to the inner door. you will need to drill them out. then there should be two more that hold the regulator to the window glass. they have to come out. use something to prop the glass up (some tape on the top). then you have to get the regulator in the right position to slide it out the largest hole in the inner door.

installation is the opposite. you will need 1/4" rivets to put it back in, or you can use 1/4" bolts. that's what i used. just be careful not to tighten the ones on the glass too much!

I have been looking for a "how to" on removing the interior door panel on a ranger equipped with powered windows. So far I haven't seen one. (I have seen the one with hand cranked windows)

it's the same for a power door as a manual, except you don't have a crank to take off.

there are 2 screws in the black door handle surround, then it just pops off. one more screw behind that panel, and one down in the carpet area. then just slide the door panel up and off.

Thank you, a very clear explanation, and the photos were very good. Thanks again. Now I can hopefully figure why the power window switch has sort of moved down aways in the door.
