Question security/ alarm???

I dont know if this is the right section or not... but Im gonna ask anyways...

I was wondering if any of you guys knew how i could find out if I had an alarm or not?

I have a blinking light on my dash in my cluster that blinks and I thought maybe it did at one time before i purchased it had an alarm, maybe the previous owner had the keychain but than lost it?

Any advice would be helpful

Is it a blinking "THEFT" light in the instrument cluster? If so, that is not an alarm. It is simply the factory anti-theft PATS system. The transponder key thing.

same thing factory pats system

aftermarket alarm would be a led light on the dash somewhere but not in the actual gauge cluster

yeah i was pretty sure if it was aftermarket there would be a light, however if it was factory i thought it might have been integrated into the cluster.

you know for instance i have 4x4 lights in the cluster but they dont turn on...

I really wish they would though...lol

As stated, that's just the PATS.

What you could have done to determine whether or not it was an alarm is lock up the truck with the window down, then reach in and open the door from the inside.

If there was an alarm, you'd find out pretty quick.
