Default Securilock passive anti-theft system

Base truck--I have no auto door locks, no key fob, just 2 plain looking keys. The securilock icon blinks on and off on the dash like it should, but is it really doing anything? Are my keys 'coded'? If I go to Ace and get a cheapie $2 key made, will it work or do I have to go through all that rig-a-ma-roll coding stuff listed in the owner's manual?

I have the bigger key on the left, but the Ford label is all black.

The smaller key on the right will only unlock the doors, it wont start the truck.
