Default Removing dash face.

Hello all, I was going to put a cd player in my 88 ranger tomorrow, and i need to get the faceplate off the dash so i can dig the wiring out (been pushed way back in there and I have huge hands) sorry for the newb question but im trying to learn. I did a search and came up with nothing of use to my application. Thanks in advance.

Minnis

On my 89 ranger you just gently pull the trim piece off. It was not screwed on just clipped

I know I did it years ago when I bought my '90 because it didn't even come with a radio. I can't recall what I did to get it off, though. Do you have any pics of the setup? Might jar my memory a little.

these are the best pics i have, there are 4 screws along the top edge and the headlight switch and there seems to be something around the gauges stopping it.

no need to pull the dash out.. slide the new cage for the radio in there, bend the tabs on it to hold it in place, slide the new radio in and BAM! you're done.

i've installed countless radio's in 1st and 2nd gen's.

the problem is that i cant get my hands far enough back in there to get the wires. Someone has cut the connector so i will have to hard wire it in there.

Thanks man, I got it off this morning. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with your gauges? my temp gauge is not working and the fuel gauge is iffy, any idea on that?

well I cleaned mine up but It still didnt work, you could try that, also try hitting it, if it still doesnt work check the sending units, then the wires, and if its still not working its probably screwed, which mine was screwed, if it is screwed you can buy a new one or rebuild yours. I just hit the gas tank a guessed how much fuel was left, and since my truck didnt have ac/heat, if I felt heat, then its over heating.
