Re: 2003 5x7 Stock Speaker Power Handling
Speakers normally blow one of two ways.
The most common way is when someone tries to play a speaker to loud with an amp that has to little power. The AMP starts to clip and can no longer control the speaker. The speaker coil then bottoms on the magnet and blows.
Or the speaker is driven to hard with to much power from the amp.
This can cause the speakers coil to heat up and short.
Or the speaker coil is driven into the magnet.
The best thing to do is get more power than needed and not turn it up so loud the speaker blows. Easier said than done.
