I have a '90 x-cab. I love the truck, but the incessant beeping when I have the keys in and the driver's side door open (such as when I'm listening to my stereo while cleaning the interior) is driving me absolutely nuts. I took out the sensor, which is great, except that it eliminates my dome light. Normally not a problem, unless I'm getting into my truck at night and can't find the cord for my ipod or whatever I might need to see.

Is there any way to get rid of the dinging without losing the dome light when the door is open?

my 95 x-cab did that. The first problem I had was that the door chimer was on even while driving. So I blasted the door hinge with air from a compressor and it was sand that was clogging the sensor.

In your case, do you have an XL or an XLT. I believe the wiring harnesses are different. I know that you have to cut the wire itself to the door chimer. I can't really remember though.

No idea if yours is different, but my 94 has a harness connector to the right of your right leg on the drivers side which I unplugged and I no longer have the dinging.

I have an XLT, and I've disconnected the sensor all together. but I was curious if you could keep the sensor so that the light came on when the door was open, but not the dinging.
