Default how to wire switches.

Ok so i have seen many diagrams on how to wire switches but pictures dont help me at all. So let me explain how i think it works and tell me if i have the right idea or not. And if not, please explain how to wire a switch.

OK, so i and thinking of doing L.E.D.'s in my wheel wells and i want to wrie them to 1 switch that will be located in the driver's reach. My thoughts on how a switch is wired is that you wire one to a constant, battery. and the other wire is what your trying to turn on or off. Is this correct? or does a switch have its on ground?

Please help me by explaining how this works dumbed down as much as possible. im not even sure how to connect all the L.E.D's. do you bring the wires all together and crimp them with the wire to the switch?

Thanks in advance for your help!

ok to wire a switch you need a power wire and the wire from the leds.... you can find a centrally located spot to run the wires from the leds to and either crim them to one wire or crimp the front wires together in one connection and then crimp the back ones in another connection with butt connectors.... rrun a wire on the other side of the butt connectors up into the vehicle where you are wanting to mount the switch... take both wires and crimp them into a spade terminal and slide on the post of the switch that is marked ACC... now for your power wire you can either find a wire that is key hot or run straight to the battery.... now the battery wire is straight forward.... if you are going for a key hot wire splice into a wire that is hot when the key is on and run it to where the switch is being mounted... it should go on the power terminal.... if it has a ground terminal you can run the wire to the ground of say the radio or a good body ground....
