Talking If anyone helps me I will contribute to FRF... Remote Start

Hey all,

I just got and attempted to put in a remote start. I have it hooked up right now so that I believe all the wires are in their correct places. I have a bypass module put on and installed correctly.

The problem is the damn thing won't start. It unlocks/locks with the little remote but no ignition, it makes no sign whatsoever that it is trying to start. The remote start system is a clifford matrix rs1.1l and the bypass module is a 556uw from DEI.

If there are any tips/tricks please let me know as I can't think of anything that could possibly be wrong with the way I have it set up right now. I used the following wiring chart:

http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wir...nger/1788.html

When I cut the start wire, the side closest to the steering wheel got the 'key-side' and the side going away from the steering wheel got the 'starter side' wire.

Best,
MB

Do you have a multi-meter (voltmeter)? If so, check the ignition signal for the starter side wire when you are pushing the remote start button and see if it's getting voltage.

Will do tomorrow morning, thanks - once everything is solved I'll become a contributor... was actually planning on it for a while now since so many people help me on here.

There is no power to the starter side of the starter wire... what now?

I checked over the heavy-gauge wires and confirmed they are, to the best of my knowledge, connected properly.

Here are the remote start module wires which I have not connected that I suspect may be at fault:

200ma starter output
200ma 3rd ignition output
Ground when armed input
factory alarm disarm (maybe?)

Could the brake and hoodpin wires be prohibiting the unit from starting?

There was a switch which could turn the system off/on that required grounding. The instruction manual was very ambiguous in that it didn't mention what needed to be connected where on this thing so I had to find the matching wire and then voila! I nearly crapped my pants when it started.

I feel like the whole project really wasn't difficult at all, this weekend has been good for my Ranger - replaced the entire front end and put in a remote start system.

Glad to hear everything worked out alright! You should come do a front wheel bearing and clutch slave cylinder on mine now ;D

WooHoo!!! Good for you!

Oh BTW...You installed this in your vehicle that has an AUTOMATIC Transmission ,correct?
I heard of people installing these in a Manual trans vehicle, and it can be VERY DANGEROUS if still in gear!
All the stereo/Alarm shops out here WILL NOT do the install because of liability reasons.
Believe it or not,it is STILL possible for the vehicle to "JUMP" forward/reverse even if it is in Neutral.
Please consider this

Yup my ranger is an automatic, I have a friend who jerry-rigged his to start a manual 4dr car but he would always park it facing a snow-bank... sometimes it would scare the hell out of people walking by.
