Default Window Regulator

Hey guys-

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the window regulator in their ranger. If so, could you give some pointers? I was looking at it this morning and saw that the regulator was _riveted_ into the door. Aside from drilling through the rivets and securing the new regulator with bolts, is there anything else? Also, is there a better way to go at it then on the opposite side? (i.e. is there a way to get it so you're looking at it from the front and not guessing where to put everything?)

Best,
MB

You have to rivet it back in place bolts won't work at all. Harbor freight sells the LARGE rivet gun you need to put them back in.

x2. mine have been bolted in for years. i found if you tack weld the bolt to the regulator first, then put the nut on the door panel side, it's much easier.

I'll have to try and remember that. I'll need one for the replacement door I'm painting for the '98 right now. I had to remove everything since the "new" door is a silver door from the junk yard.

Is this the one you are talking about?

or this?
