Default Bow rack?

I know this might be a little weird but i got a new bow and the case i have for it doesn't fit very well in the truck, like it is the about an inch shorter then the width of the back seats and i dont really want to take it out of the case to bounce around in the back so i was curious if anyone has made a bow rack to securely hang it in the back windows, and just putting it in the bed is not an option, because i cant seem to find any freaking locking bed covers used around here and i dont really want it stolen. any ideas would be appreciated

i'm having a hard time picturing a modern "short" bow, not fitting in the truck, maybe the case is too long
what kind of bow you rockin ????

btw, this thought of a "bow hanger" has crossed my mind also, i've only had the truck 3 weeks and havent had my bow in it yet, i better get my ass in gear with archery only a little over a month away

Yea i know i am about a month behind, season starts the 8/15 for us and i dont even have my bow paper tuned to my hunting arrows. Whats your set up? yea its not the bow that's to big its the case but the only other one i have is a softcase and new smaller cases are too small, its a hoyt MT Sport, btw. but i was thinking some thong like a shower rod with 3 hooks on the top and another rod with 1 hook on the bottom just to keep it from swinging but i dont think that would be sturdy enough

Are you using a compound? I wonder if you could simply buy a gun rack from walmart, and if it would work. Or if you could make it work some how. But, Yeah can't wait for archery season! 22 days left. =D

shitty thing is, I have a cross bow. They are really fun at first, But after a while not really. I plan on keeping it through archery season, since I am accurate with it. Then after, trading it for a decent compound I hope.

i had this problem in my dads old s10. what we did was jus put a gun rack and hang the bow from there

something like this

and you can place your bow, sights up so it hangs with the string closest to the ground

ive always wanted a crossbow! the only thing is that theyre VERY dangerous and id rather stick to compound. currently rocking a browning and i have another browning im gonna change to as soon as i get arrows for it.

They are fun, You can get them for a good price too. That is why I bought the cross bow rather then, a compound. I got mine for 147 plus shipping. 300fps ,and 165lb draw. I've heard good about browning, also about bear, then there's another brand that I cant recall what they are called. Problem is, for bolts for the crossbow, are any where from 5 bucks a bolt to 7bucks. Which I suppose isn't too terrible.. but here is a pic of mine.

They are dangerous, My friend and his dad have crossbows. Well my friends dad, had his thumb to close to the string, once he shot it the string literally took off the tip of his thumb. He went to the hospital, and they verified that bone was missing. So he does not shoot any more.

----------

I also think they have those racks at walmart, that's what I was going to recommend.
Though, is this to carry your bow to go shoot or just to keep it in the truck all the time.
If your just going to go shoot for a bit, or hunt. I'd just simply put the bow in the bed.

Ah thats a nice crossbow! sorta like the one i was looking into

well i have 2 brownings and a bear that i refuse to use until i take it to get tuned since it hadnt been shot for 2 years prior to me getting it. all my bows are handowns cuz my tio has been bow hunting since idk when and he gives me all his bows. the one im currently using will be retired soon though cuz its very lightly powered. its maybe 55 lbs. but the other one i think is 70 so i wanna get arrows soon so i can use it. i think the brand youre trying to remember is mathews. theyre are REALLY good but also very pricey

----------

oh and if you have an atv, the gunracks work also. all you have to do is angle them in and strap them down. thats what i did this past season cuz i didnt have my truck in the condition it is in now and i didnt want to run it too much through the sand

Yes, I have heard of mathews they have some of those at the archery store near me, very nice bows. But I'm thinking of hoyt? I think, I'm not so sure.

I have always been a fan of parker products and the new cross bow they have out with the ar style stock looks pretty kick ass in my opinion. Im running a parker phoenix compound right now. Looking to possibly getting a cross bow but I almost like the challenge of using a compound.

cross bows are nice, But if you like the challenge of a compound, I would personally stick with it. Because My friend, his dad, and I. have all had our crossbows for about 7 months, and we are already tired of them. I look forward to after deer season, to be trading mine for a nice compound. It is nice with the compound to be able to put a scope on it, and shoot long distances.

Here where I live, crossbows are legal during archery and rifle season. So that was one of the big reasons, as to why I got the crossbow. Also because it was a lot cheaper then a compound.

I have those same gun racks in my truck and I took a picture of my bow sitting in them to verify that this is how you hang it:

Personally, I would never drive my truck with the bow hanging on the gun rack like that. That is just asking for a problem. In fact, I'll probably just do like I have been doing and when it's not in its case, put it under the seat...

I don't see how you're having a problem putting your bow case in your truck. My bow case is just under four foot and fits between the jump seats in my Ranger perfectly.

Also, I was told that you should not leave your bow in the vehicle when it's hot (75+) outside. Apparently it's bad for the string?

PSE Litespeed. Not the fastest bow, but it'll get the job done. Just need to get a sling for it and I'll be loaded down like a pack mule come general hunting season (didn't take my bow hunter education, so I won't be able to bow hunt this year , and I still plan on hauling the rifle around just in case, lol).
