Like in the title, I am doing my dual fog light switch mod. I decided to give it a go for myself, after looking at buggman's work. For the bezel and switch, its out of a 2003 ford explorer. Also, I am not doing the wiring mod for the switch, I bought it from buggman.

Anyway, here's some pictures of the bezel and my newly created closet workshop










I decided to use JB weld to fill in the gaps because it bonds to plastic and is sandable. I will add more pics as I continue, but as for now, my thumb is raw from rubbing that damn rubber coating off!!!

haha you and me both, this rubber crap is horrible to get off, this one is giving me such a hard time. The stock bezel in my truck right now was easy to get the rubber coating off, this one is being a pain

I rubbed my fingerprints off modding the first few bezels I did too

Don't forget to remove the 2wd/4x4 insert before you start sanding & painting... it's a PITA to mask it off.

I managed to do my last one without removing it and it looks perfect. I just taped over the whole thing, cut it with a razor blade and pushed the tape into the crack, and it looks decent. I did manage to get the rest of the rubber coating off last night so tonight I will sand the hole i filled smooth, and hopefully with any luck, PAINT

one small, tiny flaw- the wording will be wrong on your 4x4 switch - Rangers don't have auto > 4x4 high > 4x4 Low
But, besides that tiny flaw, it looks great!

yeah well it is an explorer bezel, But I will just swap the plate out later (before or after I finish my fogs and stuff, who knows). I am going to the scrap yard after work today to pick up a couple things (another 12v plug cap, cigaret lighter incase i need it in place of my 12v, and going to look for that panel) so I will see what I find. Then I will go home and time to sand and hopefully paint I will be using krylon fusion gloss black, and then I am going to put a few coats of clear on it.

Be careful using the gloss black fusion, the last couple things I painted with the gloss didn't turn out that well. Lots of tiny pits & some spots didn't want to adhere properly.

I gave up after 2 or 3 tries & went with the satin fusion & the stuff looks perfect after the first coat... go figure

Hmm, well I'll give it a go and see. I managed to get a 2wd, 4x4 high and 4x4 low panel for the bezel today from the wreckers, along with another 12v outlet and cigaret lighter outlet (extra inventory). Right now I am sanding but it looks like it will take another coat once im done so no paint for tonight I guess

Update: Bezel is now sanded and painted, it looks good. You can only notice where it was before if you really look. I will post up pics on sunday night when I have access to my computer.
