Default Air bag on/off switch

It has been such a long time since I have actually had the passenger air bag on. When you turn it on is the light suppose to illuminate? I was thinking it was not suppose to.
When it is in the on position the light is on plus I get the air bag light flashing 2-7 which that code means the bulb is burnt out.

Edit, I forgot yours is newer. The one in my truck only lights up when you start it and then it goes off. Did you try spraying the connectors under the seat to see if that works?

No didn't spray the connector. I gotta remove the seat anyways to fix the reclining part tomorrow. Upon further looking in the repair manual it also could be the bulb is fine but the switch is bad.

Yeah seems that way with it in the on position and its still lit. Being that the switch has been off so long, do you think that a quick shot of wd40 in there may correct it?

That was also a option. It has been in the off position since about day one of buying it new.

Only reason to decide to turn it on is because the wife will be traveling with me and she wants it on.

I would think where its located alot of dust and junk can collect so hopefully thats all it is and the wd40 will cure it. If not, tell her its on and take out some life insurance lol

I forgot to mention. If I have it in the off position and the light is not illuminated. I can hit the console and it comes on. Also if it is off when in the on position I can hit it and it comes on but the light still blinks.

Just looked at switches on ebay and ya I would just rather not go that route. Hopefully it is a simple WD-40 trick or electrical cleaner fix.
