Default Interior paint

Im new to the forum but have had my ranger for a while. Its a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge Ext. cab flareside. I love the little guy. I wanted to paint my bezel and a couple other things to spice up the inside with the same electric blue he is. Can anyone help me in telling me what kind of paint is the best to use, do you have to sand the parts etc, I know you have to sand the bezel because of the soft rubber but what about anything else?

i actually left the rubber coating on my bezel when i painted mine, and if it gave me problems i would sand it off with either 400 or 600 grit paper. but it seems to be holding up very well for the 3 weeks its been like that. i used krylon fusion Hammered finish. then threw 5 coats of duplicolor clear on it. came out real nice. just put a good thick coating of base. i prepped it with a scotchbrite pad then de-greased it with simple green de-greaser.

clean it really well with alcohol before painting.. as far as paint if you go to a paint shop and tell them your paint code they can put auto paint to match your truck in a rattle can for you....

Or, its possible that you could find this at your local auto store. Duplicolor makes many color matched spray cans.

As per painting: With hard plastic I always use adhesion promoter rather than primer. So, sand, clean, adhesion promoter, base coat, clear coat.

The bezel is super easy to paint because it is smooth. You will find that with the bumpy or textured plastics that sanding isn't a great idea if you want to keep it textured. Just clean them really well and shoot adhesion promoter on them. Take a good look at the adhesion promoter when it has dried. If you see any faults, sand, clean and try again.

I'd ask around small paint shops and see how much they would charge to shoot it if you did the prep work and buy your own paint. Oreillys will sell you partial pints for like 20 bucks and sandpaper is cheap. Just wash them with dish soap to remove the grease and sand them with 320 sandpaper. A small body shop could paint those peices and clear coat them in less than 15 minutes. Spray paint always looks like ass compared to clear coated parts.
