Do the seat mod and cut that center section off and then get a explorer console or a ranger short console

We call what you have a 60/40... 'cause 60% is one piece and 40% is another piece... you could do as listed above or start trolling junkyards/craigslist for a set of buckets. If you get ranger ones they will bolt right up without any modification...

i was thinkin about doing that i dont know if i wanna cut the other seat tho because i dont really mess with seats and fabric stuff and i figrued it would be cheaper to either get seats out of a ranger that has them or get seats off of like jc whitney or jegs

There is no fabric sewing involved you just simply tuck the seat material away and u can staple it up and away.

This is practically free to do especially if you have a hack saw or reciprocating saw
then only expenss is a center console which you can find for 50-100 bucks

A seat is gonna be around 100 or more

I just read about this mod a few hours ago. Went to the store, got some bucket seat covers and came home, took out seat, cut extra part and swing down console out. Presto, bucket seats. Thanks for that tip guys, I didnt know it was that easy. In the future if i run across some nice seats, just remove and re install, no big deal, but works great for now to cover my old seats.

Here are some photos to help out

Pull back the fabric, cut the foam along the crease.

Unbolt the console. Cut the metal section off

sew/staple the fabric down and secure nice and tight

Gah i wish people would be more spesific on this. IF you put Explorer seats in a SINGLE CAB RANGER THEY WILL NOT FIT. you have to some how swap tracks. The tracks in the single cabs are longer than the ext cab rangers. YOU CAN PUT EXPLORER AND MOUNTAINIEER SEATS in a ext cab ranger cause the tracks are the same. You only have to tap the holes to bolt em down. Im going through this process myself with a set of mounty seats 00 mounty seats. And i need to figure out how to bolt them in. I can't just swap seat tracks, dosent work like that. The rivets in the ranger bolt in straight down. The rivets in the mounty bolt in sideways. So what i wanna know is would someone who has had this problem please explain to me what the heck i need to do. So i wish people who say all u have to do is swap seat tracks is not true.

Here is a url to a web page that tells you what seats bolt right into a ranger: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Seats.html
I love this site. It has tons of great info.

cheapest thing you can do is take out the drivers seat, peal back the fabric from the center part...take a sawzall and cut the part off that goes in the middle and then wrap the fabric over where you cut and tuck it under the seat...There is surely a writeup on it somewhere on the net...Ive seen one on thise site or R-F with pics and all...Doesnt take long and no sewing required.

According to therangerstation.com, you should be able to bolt in seats from a Ford Escort, tempo, mustang, thunderbird, or their sister cars. You must use the halo style headrest buckets in a standard cab though to make it fit. I havent tried it yet but I plan on going down to pick and pull when I get paid to see if I cant find a set of seats I like. If I do, I'll post here to let you know how it works out.
