Default mustang dome light question

I was looking to buy a dome light from Pooleo (great deal BTW) but what i wanted to do was to just have the dome light light up using the existing wiring from my oem dome light and not use the map lights (since I dont what to take apart the a pillar and pass extra wiring) Can i use the oem wiring just to light up the dome light itself? Thanks in advice

PS Pooleo said that he thinks i should be able to but because i have a 2011 he isnt sure so i am just seeking confirmation lol

You should just be able to screw it in and tI believe the dome will still function, just not the map lights

You should be able to use the dome light with just the OEM wiring, but I believe you could run a jumper wire from the dome light screw to the map lights screw so they'll light up with the dome light (assuming the switches are turned on).
I'm not 100% sure on this, but it might just work.... only issue would be that the map lights wouldn't work when the doors are closed or whenever the dome light is off.

also, his dimmer switch should be able to power on the dome light. So if the map lights were to be wired to the dome light, he could power on all lights by rolling the dimmer up. Which is just as good imo.

Good call on wiring the map lights to the dome with a separate wire. Just may come off a stupid question... What tyoe of wire should I use... I have a lot of speaker wire at home, but that prob would work? I know I really suck at electrical.
