Default OHC/dome light help

Hey guys after reading and re-reading the how to's i ordered a mustang dome light and an explorer overhead console. I have a 2004 xlt supercab so i started with the dome light. Pretty simple ran the wire tapped behind the panel and it works. Then i tackled the OHC. That wasn't quite as easy and was compounded by needing to run to the store while working, but i was able to button it all up and it looks decent (i cut a tad too much headliner ) but figured out how to button it all up and make it look clean. Now comes the problem..... The dome light and the lights on the OHC don't work, but the temp and compass on the OHC work. I figured it out that i had blown the fuse. Changed the fuse and it popped again. Am i drawing too much power with both mods or something else? Any ideas?

It shouldnt be drawing too much power. The power wire for the stang light should be a seperate line of its own. Tap the OHC into (if I remember correctly) the orange/yellow wire to the radio. The extra wire added for the stang lights are for the map lights so you dont have to tap that one in case you did, try tapping the light wires for the OHC behind the radio and to the GEM module

on all the how to's you tap behind the radio for the OHC display one for power and one for the dimmer (which works great) but you also tap into the dome light to power the lights i'm thinking it maybe too much but i've seen other guys with this mod this is unless i pinched a wire somewhere along the way

Correct tap into the dome for when you open the door, both domes will light up. Did you tap into the new wire you added to the stang light or existing one?

i tapped both

on the how to's for the 2004 it said to tap into the existing wire with the constant power and then run the other back to where you tap if you were doing the dome light mod (literally the same wire) i tapped the wire i ran figuring it wouldn't make a difference cause you're doing the same draw by having a tap in the overhead and one at the source instead of 2 at the source could this be it?

You shouldnt tap into both, thats why you are blowing fuses. I just did an 04 and that other wire was tappedto the Orange/yellow wire on the radio. It's tough describing it without seeing it or being there ya know

just tap the OHC wire to the OEM wire to the stang light, the other wire should go to another connection. Basically 1 ohc wire runs to the stang light, all others will be connected to the GEM, radio or the headlight switch. I know Rwenzing said to tap the interior switch or headlight swithc orange/yellow but there is also one on the radio or GEM to tap into instead of going that far

ugh.....i'm not looking forward to ripping apart my interior again....this may need to wait a couple days. I did find a sweet way to run around going thru the firewall for the temperature sensor. I came down the passenger side a pillar, then out thru the grommet that runs the wires to the passenger door, from there i was able to snake along the inside of the body into the engine compartment

I did something similar to my wiring, but all the others went out through the grommet behind the brake pedal and I used alot less wire those times lol. Shoot me a pm if you need more help with the OHC, we'll figure it out one way or the other!

My dome only had one wire so i ran a second. I just went out and pulled the tap off of the wire i ran and now i'm not blowing fuses and i have functioning dome light and computer on the ohc. once i pull apart the interior again and reroute the power wire for the ohc lights i believe everything should work (fingers crossed)
