Default Adding passengers airbag

Well, as simple as that...

My truck (96 XLT Regular Cab) doesnt have the passenger Airbag.

Behind the cover where it should be, it has the wire for pluging in that airbag, but... I would need to add the airbag aswitch (to disconnect it), so:

1- anyone know if all the wires for that swich are installed and in place (behind the 12V outlet, next to the ashtray)

2- How do i remove that 12V outlet? i mean the whole assy (pop-out compartment)

Thanks in advance!!!

it should have the switch wiring as for the block out plate next to the ashtray it should just pop off...youll prolly also need the RCM for a dual airbag ranger

mmmm damm, so i would need the RCM for dual airbag, the switch, the switch housing and the airbag... right?

Fuck for the RCM... I thought it was the same module for one airbag as well as two!

yes thats correct because if you had the dual airbag RCM in your ranger it would be throwing a code because it isnt sensing the passenger airbag

Im not totaly sure about that... cause in the back part of the panel (where the airbag is mounted) the passenger plug is attached to a special female plug. If I disconnect it, the airbag light comes on sending me a signal.

Ive been told that female plug it to "emulate" the passenger airbag, in order that no error is displayed in the dashboard... but Im not 100% sure (my mechanic told me that)

If you have the wiring and a bypass device on it, then there is probably wiring and a bypass device for the switch too. You'll have to dig for it.

Ash tray just pulls out and there is a few bolts to remove the 12V thingie

my 2 cents, don't do it. the whole system is designed to work the way it does. if you add another bag into the system, it could cause more problems than it's worth. airbags aren't something to figure out by trial and error. unless there is a law or something saying that you have to have two, i wouldn't do it.
