I am gonna be adding an alarm/remote start to my 05 Ranger and was wondering if anyone has any oppinions or suggestions. Brands?? any experience with any of them??
My wife just had one installed on a 2009 Mercury Mariner at the dealer for $319.
Something to keep n mind is if your vehicle has a transponder chip key I would probably go with the dealer. I'm some what certain the auto start fob has to send the same code as the key to the vehicles security system.

Most name brand companies have the funny wire round loop that gets'em right.

what about a manual truck, because I know there's such thing as new cars that are stick shift, that still have a remote start, I'd imagine it'd be more expensive because there'd be a sensor to make sure the transmission is in neutral and to make the computer think someone is pushing in the clutch...
my brother just traded in his 05 colorado for an 09 silverado, and it has a remote start. lol

I know the 2000 Ranger body styles (and really all with the transponder in the key) need the DEI 556u in order for the Rem. Start to work!
I'll be happy to install alarms/remote starts for anyone in the NC/VA area, hehe!
Really anything audio. You can check out my system in my Ranger also....it's worth it, lol!

What if you program a regular spare key and once that is complete, insert the transponder key inside the bypass module hook that up hook the alarm/remote starter up and use the spare key to start engine even though transponder is already in the trucks bypass module? I need help and don't really want to spend loads of money on a new programmed key. please and thank you lol

I hope somebody is on I really need some help right now. I have a Viper alarm/remote starter system just got today. Bought a bypass module and realized it needs a spare key. I only have one key. What my question is: could I get a regular spare key, program it and use that to start the truck up "WHILE" my original transponder key is inside the bypass module? Hope someone can answer because I really want to setup my alarm/remote starter system that and I don't want to spend a wad of money by going to the dealership. Hate going there. So if anyone can help me on this I would really appreciate it. Thank you
