Default Replacing E Brake Handle

Folks,

I've a '96 and the handle for the emergency / parking brake has come off.

I've pressed the thing back on but that only worked for a little while before it simply was too loose to pull on without pulling it off.

My E Brake isn't rusted in place as I've been able to pull the rod with my fingers readily enough.

I'd much rather have the handle back on the connecting rod though as that gives me better leveral and enough clearance not to rap my knuckles when the brake releases.

I've thought about slathering the end of the rod with J-B Weld, pressing the handle back on to the rod, and then waiting overnight for things to set up.

Has anyone else here had a similar problem?

If so, what was your fix?

Thanks,

Madoc

Well, im in the same quest looking for this. What I should tell you is to dissamble the rod and glue it in place (I cant recommend you any product brand cause Im not from the US).

By the way... you mention rust; is there any maintenance that should be done to the parking brake assy? I can imagine to lube it... but where exactly???

Mickblock,

Sorry if you misunderstood where I stated that the handle for the emergency / parking brake has come off.

Just the handle.

I'm still able to work the brake release mechanism by grasping the end of the rod that the handle would otherwise be stuck to.

I'm still able to apply the emergency brake as the pedal works just fine.

I've no need of replacing any other assembly.

I just want to get the handle - or _A_ handle - back on the thing.

That's all.

So the release handle then. My bad.
If you have enough of the "sleeve" part on the release lever then two part epoxy glue will definitely hold. If you have two broken parts that have to fit together with a tiny surface area for glue to go I'd involve a stick of plumbers epoxy and kinda fabricate it back on even if it involved drilling holes in the piece you need to hold on to give the epoxy something to grab.
