Weird sound coming from the blower motor

Hey guys,

There's a weird sound coming from my blower motor. Everytime I turn the fan on it sounds like an old movie projector and it's pretty loud and annoying. It sounds like one of the fan blades is hitting an object but nothing fell in there. It really sucks because it stared doing this about a year ago when it was still under warranty and the probem went away. Now it has come back but it's 10 X louder.
Does this mean my blower motor is going out, and if so will I need to remove the whole dash to replace the thing?
btw ... It's a 2004 (I don't if they changed the motor with everything else.)

Sounds to me like you have had a leaf of a piece of paper get in there somehow. As far as I know of the blower motor is still on the firewall on the passenger side of your truck.

I have the same problem in my 86 Ranger. Mine is not too loud but sounds like the same type noise. I can flip the fan on and sometimes it won't come on at all. Most of the time it works as it should. I guess this is one of those "to do" items. How hard is this to change out? I have 2 Rangers and an F150, so I drive the one with the most gas. Ha
