Default Mounting a small gunsafe

Ok, so I have a small gunsafe for putting in a car and Ive had it awhile. Still contemplating places to put it. Was going to pay a shop to do the work but lately Ive been doing alot to my truck so I think Ill tackle this one myself as well.

I have an 06 Ranger, as a point of reference. I was thinking of putting it where the little console is below the Passenger airbag switch and ashtray. Might be a tight fit and firstly, I dont know how to take that lil thing out.

Ive also considered mounting it under the driver seat though I dont consider it an ideal location now do I think it will fit. Anyone else have any ideas for a solid place to mount it in the truck? I can provide pics if necessary....and it probably will be.

Can you mount it behind the glove box? That would conceal it so no one can break in and try to steal the safe

Heres two pics of the safe in question sitting on the hood.

Dimensions are 12"x8"x5" at its biggest. It not a perfect rectangle but those are the biggest dimensions, which are at the front. Its height (5") tapers down about an inch towards the back. Width stays the same.

Hope that makes sense.

Now I know theres no way it will fit there, at least not with the intention of putting the plastic cover in place again.

TBH, I really am considering taking out my jump seats, and everything back behind my seats and putting together boxes and whatnot to keep all my gear, off roading stuff, and whatever organized and contained in the cab. That may not happen until I after I decide and build/have built an internal or external cage for my truck.

But thats another subject entirely.

Nah, bought it at my local gunstore.

And as for mounting it under the seat, as soon as my stomach settles, Ill go check it out. As I said before, even if it fits there, its not what I would consider an ideal place to mount it. But it is hiddin and out of view.

Very willing to bet I will have to take the seat out in order to bolt it in though.

That might be a really good idea. My metal fabricating skills are slight though.

Ok, I think mounting it under the seat is definitely out of the question.

The little console peice under the ashtray its slightly longer than the safe though, so I still have hope about fitting it there. Anyone know how to go about getting that thing out? Preferably without breaking it?
