The little console peice under the ashtray its slightly longer than the safe though, so I still have hope about fitting it there. Anyone know how to go about getting that thing out? Preferably without breaking it?
Post pics of where you want to put it

If you want a metal box fabricated go to your local sheet metal shop. Here they only charge you by the weight of the project. Super cheap. They have all the tools & stock on hand.

Alright, this pic is terrible. Its dark in my truck/garage and the camera on my phone blows.

Hopefully it will give you an idea what Im talking about here at least.

[[EDIT] Alright, got that piece removed, there was 4 screws over it. Seems that the safe would fit there but that plastic piece served not only as a place to put small items but also hid some wiring and a metal control box of some sort. Guess thats a no-go in that location. Weak.

I bought a smaller gunsafe that I can stick under the seat and has a steel cable for wrapping around something. I guess the bigger safe will be for the house.

Thanks for your help people.

I have an 02 Ranger xlt and am thinking about mounting a bulldog gun vault in the back underneath the fold down passenger seat. It comes with a metal sleeve that you insert the vault into and secures it when you lock it. I'm going to paint it tan to match the interior and make it harder to see. Will post pics if anyone is interested.

Hopefully not one of those "keyless entry" safes, they aren't very secure.

I purchased one today that is a keyed vault that can be mounted with a sleeve and inserted and removed if needed. It seems pretty sturdy and the guy who sold it to me at 4x4 parts said that they've sold a bunch to the Alaskan State troopers. I'll be installing it tomorrow when I get off work. It's the vehicle security lockbox that you can find on coporatetravelsafety.com. Diamond plate 16 gauge steel, feels tougher than other things I've seen. Hope it works out well, however something is better than nothing.

Installed the safe yesterday. Buddy and I bolted it into the floor. Put some sealant onto the nuts underneath the truck as well. Mounted it under the passenger fold down seat and that bad boy is going no where. Absolutely solid, in fact it is so solid it straightened a bent screw driver i had haha. They will have to take the truck before they get my Glock.
