Default Weird short in my steering column???

Hey guys,

The other day, I opened the door to my truck, and it makes the noise like if you left your keys in the ignition. So, I check the ignition, and obviously there are no keys in it. Check the headlights....they are off. So, I was just like whatever, and went about my business.

Fast forward a few days...same crap happens.....again, I said whatever, shut the door, and went about my business.

and I bet you will never guess what happend next....lol ...well thats self explanatory, But this time, I was trying random crap to make it stop, Hit the blinker stalk, AND IT CUT OFF o_0 (as a side note- that technique has yet to work again)

Fast forward to today....open the door, does the same freaking noise....Get in the truck...... Accidentally hit knee on steering column...sound stops....press knee against sterring column again, and the noise starts up again.

Anyone know whats going on, or how to fix it?? Its kind of aggravating. I can post a video of whats going on if anyone needs it.

Thanks!

Weird. Sounds like something is going on in your
ignition switch.

Its a long shot, but if you have some duster (the stuff you clean computers with) blow out the ignition...It MIGHT (big MIGHT) be that there is dirt/dust in the ignition switch...its worth a try...I mean, it will only take 2 minutes and if you have duster or an air compressor it is a free option.

possibly...if that doesnt work, could be a loose ground or loose wire (would need to look around in there...if its not a loose connection or something, it could get expensive.

It's probably the switch on your ignition. If you take the "clam shell" around your steering wheel off you'll see a little blue switch my the ignition, It is probably broke or not seated right. It just happened to my truck and you can't get that part from the dealer, it's part of the air bag system in the column.
