Places to mount a CB radio?
I know this is not the first time this has been asked, but I am looking to mount my CB radio in my Ranger and have realized that my options are limited. Furthermore, my truck is a new model 5 speed which limits my posibilities a little more again.
1. Roof mount: not an option for me since my truck is 5 months old, I don't want to drill holes in the headliner.
2. Under the HVAC controls: Where older models only have the airbag switch, mine has the traction control off button and the aux line in for the stereo. Kinda didn't want to mess with this area either.
3. Custom made center console (behind shiter): This is a possibility, only it can limit the movement of the seat back and forth. Also since the built in speaker is inside the console, an external one would be needed.
4. In dash: I have seen people mount them right in the dash and it looks very clean, except I have the full size CD/AM/FM/MP3 stereo so that space is taken up where a smaller head unit would allow this.
I forgot to mention that I have a Uniden Pro 510XL, so it's pretty small. It also has the output for an external speaker that appears to be just a 1/8" jack. I wondered if I could plug it into the AUX in on the stereo and have the CB come out over the speakers?
What do you guys think?
