Default 60/40 Split Bench NO ARMREST to 40/40

I really hate my 60/40 bench and would like some 40/40 buckets. I know there is the how to on modding them yourself, but they all talk about the 60/40 with the armrest. Mine just has a straight back. Not sure if this changes things, but if anyone has done this before it'd be great to hear how you did things.

If this does not work could I just bolt in another 40 (passenger seat) from a donor truck? I've seen the what seats fit in a ranger thread but I'm still confused because it didn't seem to specify reg cab vs ext cab. I have a reg cab, what seats would bolt in directly or with little modification?

you are pretty limited on what seats will go in. any 98+ reg cab ranger seat will bolt in, and you can modify 93-97 reg cab tracks to fit the floor, then bolt on explorer, mustang, etc. i would start searching the yards to find a set out of a 98+, even if it's a 60/40 set with a console. you can then find another matching passenger seat and swap the bottom metal pan, foam, and cover to the driver's side to make them buckets.

Its pretty easy to cut out the mid section with a saw...then cut the foam and round it a little to make it look like the edge of the pass seat and you're done....then you can tuck the extra cloth under the seat and put a middle console out of an explorer or something if you dont want to mess with sewing.

he has a base model truck. the back rest is just as wide as the bottom. no arm rest. so he would have to cut the frame up on th back as well.

I dont imagine that would be too hard...or he could go get a 60/40 with an armrest, then do it.

Prolly not too difficult but not something I want to chance..plus where exactly would I tuck the upper part behind? If I find a 60/40 I could just grab the 40 and call it good...

Yeah with the new passenger seat you'll probably have to switch the brackets over to you original drivers seat bracket. But I think I did it in like 2-3 hours but I did shampoo and wash the new seat.

Right and like I said and has been pointed out again, this is not the 60/40 with the console. I understand the normal 60/40 mod where you tuck it under the bottom of the seat, but i would need to cut the back of my seat too since it is just a straight back middle seat.

If I were you I would ask a JY if they would trade you your seat + a little cash for the normal 60/40 and then do it...
