Default fan problem

well i discovered a new problem with my truck..the fan for the ac/heat now blows full blast all the time. my actuator went bad and ive been meaning to replace it (waiting for warmth) but the fan always was fine. now it goes straight to full blast, even on the first notch..would this be a hose problem? or something else?

I doubt it is a hose problem may want to check about replacing the fan motor resistor.

It's probably the resistor pack. Usually when they fail, the other settings don't work at all and only high works. But still, it is probably that. There are no hoses.

I say you're right about that. Mine did that about a month ago but I got lucky and it turned out to be a loose wire connection which was causing me alot of other problems. They said they had a previous ranger owner come in doing the same thing and it was the resistor pack. Oh, I sent you a PM Matt. Nothing personal man.

so even though it still works on all the settings, it's probably still the resistor pack? is that easy to fix/replace?

That is an odd way for it to fail, but yes. Three screws easy I think. Maybe 4. Or maybe its 2.

fixed it! replaced the resistor today and all the speeds work now, though when i started it to make sure it was fixed it seemed like the blower wasn't as strong as before. i didn't replace the pigtail connector, and i didn't actually drive it after replacing it so ill see if its better tomorrow. thanks for all the help everyone

Did you run with the engine running or just off the battery alone? If you didn't start the truck, it will seem weaker since it is just running off battery power.
