I don't see this as wholly expensive...but I know what you mean.
Another question, does it fit with the stock dash pieces?

Yeah, fits right in place of the stocker.
Its actually very easy to do. Its a little more involved if you want to hook up the automatic control features. I hooked it up so the "manual mode" works, good enough!

Ill keep an eye open. would you be interested in all the sensors to make the auto work, or just the basics so it functions?

Re: Installed EATC, OHC and Mustang today
I am new to the forum, so forgive my "noobness", I have a blue one for sale, from a 1996 Mark VIII. Rather than having the button for "Rear fan off" which Rangers don't have, it displays "outiside temp" which is great because then you don't have a need for the OHC. Pics posted. It doesn't have plugs but is fully functional. Its been tested and cleaned all buttons work. I can supply the schematic for it. I was going to install it and my project stalled out.
DeepSouthRanger send me a PM and lets deal.

Re: Installed EATC, OHC and Mustang today
Hey man I have done this mod w the help from rwenzig and yes it will work w aftermarket radio, one sensor is behind grill of the donor explorer, one is behind dash panel in the spot of that little vent next to the radio, and the other is in the dash under the defrister cowling... This install is not thathar, just take ur time, and give urself enough wire to make connections and troubleshoot if need be... Only took me 5 hours, but I had all the sensors in place before hand... Like I said just take ur time and pay attention
