Need help quick! Power seats
I am at the junk yard now and found an explored with leather seats that are immaculate. Driver side seat is power. How hard is it to add power seats to a truck that is currently with mehanical seats? I don't care if I use the power functions on them or not as long as I Will be able to move them manually somehow. Thanks for the help

But to control the seats is what I need. For example the battery is dead on this explored and it is difficult to get to the rear bolts because I can't move the seat forward. Want to be able to adjust position of the seat after they are installed

I noticed something else about the seats that are different. the electrical connectors under the seat are different. The gray one is what my truck has now. the yellow one is what the explorer I want to pull seats from has. Can I do anything about this? would it be ok to splice the new connector onto my existing wire?

Ye syou can do what you like. Cut them and solder, (not good for later removal) use aftermarket bullet connectors, use connectors intended for another thing off the Exp.

DO NOT plug in ANY power to that yellow connector, it's for the seat mounted air bags.

^^^ thank you glad someone caught that. all you need is a ground and a positive 12v to power the seats. did you grab the other side of the gray plug so you can put them together? and wire off the other side so you can disconnect the seats if you want to take them out?

if he would swap seat tracks he would loss the power options of the seat. all he will need to do is drill out the holes for the seat bolts for 1/2 inch IIRC and get a positive 12v source and a ground and his seats will work. i will do a write up on this weekend when i install mine

yes, its the connector for the seatbelt pretensioner. I just want to make the connector on the seat couple with the connector coming out of the floor.

I promise you if you plug 12 volts to that connector you will be buying another seat.

Downey, i will get the connectors from the explorer so i can wire the power seats. of course, this is assuming i can change the connectors for the pretensioners. thats the big issue now. I do not see any reason why changing connectors would be bad. worse case i throw an airbag code and the system is inoperable. BTW, my pretensioners need to be replaced anyway due to a previous airbag deployment, so they are inoperable now anyway
As far as the power for the seats, i think i can get it. i read somewhere someone using the power window fuse for it, assuming it is wired from the engine compartment to the fuse panel. I do not have power windows, so I dont see why not. I am going to look more into that. Thanks for the coming writeup! i look forward to it.

so i will not be able to hook up the pretensioners again. at all. ever? i am not trying to hook the power seats through the yellow connector. i know what it is for. I want to take the gray connector that was hooked up to my old pretensioners, and cut that connector off to put the yellow one on so that i can hook up the pretensioner again on the new seats.
bringing 12v for the power seats and the yellow connector that belongs to the pretnsioner are two separate issues.

This covers center console install and power seats install. seems pretty thorough to me.
