Hey jrg24, not trying to be a dick, just trying to stress the point. When I swapped my mountaineer power seats I reused my ranger seat belts and mounted them to the mountaineer seat frame. If interested, there is a detailed write-up on RPS. Again just trying to help.

no problems geezmo. i want trying to be a dick either. i just figured that i wasnt articulating myself very well and wanted to clarify. My pretensioners have to be replaced, thats why i got the new seats from an explorer since i wanted to replace the seats anyway. I talked to a ford guy today and was told that it should not be a problem. just cut the existing pretensioner lead from the circuit, splice in the new connector.

I have not decided what to do for the power to the seats though. the tutorial i posted above states that the seats are usually connected to a circuit with a 30 amp fuse (that guy used his cigarette lighter), but according to my owners manual my cig lighter is only 20 amp. The only 30 amp fuse i have in my truck is for the windshield wipers. Im not sure what I am going to do yet. Worst case i can run a wire with a 30 amp inline fuse straight from the battery. Downey said he was going to do his this weekend so i may wait to see what he does.

No problems man. i appreciate you looking out for me.

Fwiw, I ran a power wire (with a circuit breaker instead of a fuse) from the battery to a fused distribution block and use that to power my seats and my mono sub amp. Just seemed easier than tapping and possibly overloading another circuit.

i ended up running a wire with a inline fuse from the battery and ground to a bolt under the seat.

looks like i am gonna have to replace retensioners after all. the drivers seat on my old truck had 4 wires instead of two. 2 are more than likely the belt minder, but i am not gonna risk it.
