Yes sir, that be where the switch is located.
This is pretty bad, I am giving advice on something I have never seen, but know it is there.
The parts guy at the dealer here said it is a micro switch, about a inch long, half inch wide, and shy of a quarter inch thick. Parts man says he has never had one in stock or order one. If the damn things didn't stick it would have been one of the best ideas Ford ever had.
I should warn everyone too, after you spray the latch area , you are going to have oil come out of the vent right below it, my wife ruined a new pair of white pants when she rubbed against it. Dome light switch lubrication is a real sore subject around my house, $60, and you would have sworn she had to earn the money herself.
Let us know if it works.

try spraying the door latches with WD40.. I had this problem with my 97 ranger and that cured it.

I was thinking of just cutting the wire... I mean I can look right over there and see the door is closed so I don't need to be alarmed.

Also, I have had the problem for about 5 or 6 years and sometimes slamming works, but most of the time I just park backwards because once you drive forward about a foot the light goes off.

The light stays on for about 30-45 minutes (per the manual) and then goes off on it's own if you are having this issue after parking.

The worse part is when you forget and park forward and have to back up with the light on.

I'm pretty lazy so I have just dealt with it, but now I think I'm going to either cut the wire and splice it depending on how it works.

The other option is of course pulling the fuse, but that's just a hassle if you actually want to see in your truck at night.

Just spray WD-40 into the door latch, aim the spray toward the outside of the door, then wipe off the excess and slam the door a couple times and see if the light goes out. Do both doors and the rear one too if so equipped.
If you clip the wires, you may loose the use of the dome light all together.
